Designed and Built in Utah — About 20 Minutes Away
Our structures are made in Utah — designed, engineered, and CNC-cut at our facility in Payson, about 20 minutes away. Every one of the 7,000+ structures we’ve delivered nationwide since 2008 started as raw timber on that shop floor.
For a Springville buyer, that means an in-person consultation, timber cut in-state, and real joinery you can drive to before you commit. We’ve built here, too, including the white carport pavilion and the hip-roof pavilion with mountain views pictured on this page.
It’s also why the U.S. Small Business Administration named us the 2026 SBA Utah District Manufacturing Small Business of the Year.
Designing Timber Structures for Springville’s Climate & Lifestyle
Springville sits at about 4,580 feet at the foot of the Wasatch Range, where Hobble Creek Canyon opens onto Utah Valley. The city’s building design criteria list a 115 mph wind load (Exposure C), a 30-inch frost depth, and a location-specific ground snow load, which the Utah Snow Load Study sets by address. NOAA’s 1991–2020 climate normals for the nearby Spanish Fork Power House station show an average July high of about 93°F and about 66 inches of snow a year, so a structure has to handle both summer sun and winter snow.
Springville requires a building permit for any detached accessory structure that is 200 square feet or more, more than one level, or has electrical, plumbing, heating, or cooling, and smaller structures still have to meet the city’s setbacks. Any patio or deck cover attached to the home needs a permit, and the city’s planning FAQ treats a carport as a detached accessory structure unless it sits within 6 feet of the house, where the home’s own setbacks apply. We work through those requirements with you during design, before a single beam is cut.
Our standard engineering starts at 115 mph. Where the project requires a higher design wind speed, the structure is engineered for that requirement. We also engineer to your lot’s real snow load, soil, and exposure.
Neighborhoods we design for:
Historic homes near Main Street
The Springville Historic District on the National Register covers blocks around Main Street, where a structure has to suit an older home and the city’s historic overlay design standards.
Homes near Hobble Creek Canyon
East-side lots toward the canyon, where mountain views, canyon winds, and higher snow shape the footing and roof design.
Narrow lots and driveways
Older and infill lots where every foot counts, like the narrow driveway our white carport pavilion now covers.
Springville incorporated in 1853, and the Springville Museum of Art’s collection began in 1903 with gifts from artists Cyrus Dallin and John Hafen. Hobble Creek Canyon holds three city canyon parks, including Jolley’s Ranch, and Art City Days brings the town together each June. A timber structure earns its place here by fitting that history and standing up to real snow, wind, and summer sun. Structures We Build in Springville
Every structure is a Custom-Engineered Kit — purpose-built for your space, architecture, and lot.
Custom Pergolas: Best Fit For Springville
With July highs averaging about 93°F, a Springville patio needs shade that actually works. A pergola has to deliver real shade and read as a permanent part of the home, not a mail-order add-on, whether it sits behind a historic home near Main Street or on a lot facing Hobble Creek Canyon. That’s where custom engineering separates from a catalog cover.

Many aluminum and light-frame pergola kits provide significantly less coverage, while our ShadePrint™ approach measures actual coverage and can reach 80–85%, varying by orientation and time of day. Unlike metal, timber has low thermal conductivity, so it doesn’t heat the skin as quickly in the sun and surfaces stay more comfortable to the touch. Engineered for Springville’s canyon-edge lots and summer sun, the Dovetail Difference® interlocks the timbers without metal brackets or exposed fasteners, with no visible hardware to loosen. Add lighting and power through TimberVolt® — engineered in, not bolted on.
The same craftsmanship scales up: Springville’s businesses, parks, and event venues use commercial timber pavilions to turn a patio into a year-round, instantly recognizable space.
Our Timber Frame Design & Build Process in Springville

Design Consultation
In person or remote, designed around your lot, home, and views.
Engineering for Springville Conditions
Engineered to your lot’s soil, grade, snow load, and wind, based on the specific conditions of your property. We provide engineering documentation to support permitting and stamped drawings prepared by a licensed engineer where the project and jurisdiction require them.
Fabrication & Quality Control
Every timber is cut in-house at our own Payson shop, on CNC machinery we own and run ourselves — not sent out to a third-party fabricator. That means the same team that engineers your Springville structure also cuts it, with one line of control and accountability from design to delivery.
Warranty Coverage
Every Western Timber Frame structure carries a limited structural warranty. Length runs from 3 years on Deck Structures to 25 years on the 12K Series, based on the series you purchase.
Delivery & Installation Support
Ships as a Custom-Engineered Kit with complete instructions; DIY-friendly, or we can coordinate installation support.
We build around local permitting, including Springville’s accessory structure permits, patio cover requirements, and carport setbacks.
