I hired Western Timber Frame to build a new deck for me because my previous one had some structural problems with the joists and was sagging. I was very pleased that the company was willing, and able, to use the existing posts and beams from my old deck, which were sound. This helped reduce my final bill considerably.
The demolition and construction went smoothly and quickly. However, there was a problem with the construction of the stairs and they needed to be re-built. I really appreciated how quickly Jared responded to my concerns about the stairs. He came to my home the very next morning and the stairs were re-built the next day. The finished product is fine.
I have found the folks I’ve worked with at Western Timber Frame to be very responsive to my questions and concerns at every stage of the construction. I feel like I’ve been a bit of a “problem child” because my project has been in the works for seven months now. This is because of a complicated Trex warranty claim on my old deck boards that took a very long time to resolve. Throughout the whole process, though, I have been treated with respect and timely attention to my project as it progressed. What is custom timber decking from Western Timber Frame?
Custom timber decking is a design-and-build deck project planned for the site, footprint, height and how the deck will be used. It is built as a project rather than ordered as a fixed kit, and scope, materials and layout are set in the design process for that address.
How does a timber frame deck differ from a stamped kit?
A timber frame deck is design-and-build work, not a pre-stamped kit with one set of catalog engineering. Framing, decking, railings and any structure above the deck are coordinated in the project drawings for that job.
Can custom timber decking be planned with a timber frame structure above it?
Yes. The deck and the structure above it can be designed together so posts, openings and layout line up on one plan set. That joint design is part of the design-and-build path, not something added to a kit later.
