The Perfect Outdoor Touch
Why Choose an Arbor or Trellis?
Your outdoor space deserves more than just furniture and plants—it deserves character. Arbors and trellises are the unsung heroes of backyard beauty, effortlessly elevating any landscape with depth, charm, and function. Whether framing a pathway, defining a cozy nook, or supporting your favorite climbing vines, these structures transform undefined spaces into inviting retreats.
Arbors: These graceful, often arched structures create a welcoming entryway or focal point. They provide shade, support for climbing plants, and a grand sense of arrival.
Trellises: Sleek and versatile, trellises serve as vertical gardens, privacy screens, or artistic accents. They maximize space while adding greenery and structure to your yard.

What Our Arbor & Trellis Customers Say
How is a timber frame arbor or trellis engineered?
Our stamped sample timber frame arbor or trellis packages use a 115 mph ultimate design wind speed as a calculation input, not a storm survival rating, with ground snow from 30 psf to 50 psf depending on the site and Exposure B. A licensed structural engineer prepares a stamped package for your address from those criteria, and fabrication follows that package. Your address may require different criteria, and your package controls.
What holds an arbor or trellis down in wind?
Wind uplift is resisted by the whole connection path: the post, its through-bolts, the plate, the anchors, the footing, and the soil beneath it. The engineer checks every step of that path, and your stamped package sizes the foundation for the calculated uplift at your address.
How are arbor and trellis posts anchored?
Because the posts run in a line rather than around a frame, each arbor or trellis post takes a quarter-inch aluminum plate that runs two feet up inside it, and the post is through-bolted to the plate. The plate anchors to concrete with four half-inch by nine-and-a-half-inch anchors, and your stamped package sets the bolt count and the footing size.
How much wind load does an arbor or trellis post take?
In our stamped 3 ft × 18 ft trellis package, each post carries 114 pounds of calculated lateral load. That is a design load for that package, not a capacity rating, and arbor loads are calculated for your own plan.
How much does a timber arbor or trellis kit cost?
Western Timber Frame arbor kits start at $3,900 in the 4000 Essential series and trellis kits at $4,900 in the 6000 Standard series, each for the smallest published plan, with shipping included and engineering quoted separately.
