Designed and Built in Utah — About 20 Minutes Away
Our structures are made in Utah — designed, engineered, and CNC-cut at our facility in Payson, about 20 minutes away. Every one of the 7,000+ structures we’ve delivered nationwide since 2008 started as raw timber on that shop floor.
For a Mapleton buyer, that means an in-person consultation, timber cut in-state, and real joinery you can drive to before you commit. We’ve built here, too: Maple Mountain Springs, a family-owned event venue at the base of Maple Mountain, has two of our timber frame pavilions — the first installed in 2016 and a larger three-gable pavilion added in 2023. See how the first one looks after ten years of event use.
It’s also why the U.S. Small Business Administration named us the 2026 SBA Utah District Manufacturing Small Business of the Year.
Designing Timber Structures for Mapleton’s Climate & Lifestyle
Mapleton sits at about 4,700 feet, with Maple Mountain rising above the east side of town and Maple Canyon opening just a few miles away. The Utah Ground Snow Load Map ties ground snow load to elevation, so a foothill lot near the canyon is engineered to its own figure, not the one for a lot on the lower bench toward Springville. Summers are warm as well: the Western Regional Climate Center’s record for the nearby Spanish Fork Power House station shows an average July high of about 93°F, which is why real shade matters here.
Mapleton adopts the building codes set by the State of Utah, and the city’s building department handles permits and inspections. According to the city’s Planning FAQ, a single-story detached structure of 200 square feet or less does not need a building permit, and city code limits accessory structures to 20% of the rear yard, with setbacks that depend on height. We work through those requirements with you during design, before a single beam is cut.
Our standard engineering starts at 115 mph. Where the project requires a higher design wind speed, the structure is engineered for that requirement. We also engineer to your lot’s real snow load, soil, and exposure.
Neighborhoods we design for:
Agricultural estate lots
Two-acre A-2 parcels with room for barns, corrals, and gardens, where a structure is placed around the way the property works.
Foothill lots near Maple Canyon
Higher, sloping lots at the base of Maple Mountain, where grade, views, and snow exposure shape the footing and roof design.
Older homes around Maple & Main
Mapleton’s original town center near Old Towne Square and the city park, where a structure has to fit an established lot and an older home.
Mapleton’s first settlers arrived in 1850, and permanent settlers followed around 1870. The bench was renamed Mapleton in 1901, and the city was incorporated in 1948. Old Towne Square keeps that history close: it holds the Levi Kendall Cabin from about 1880, the 1888 Relief Society Hall, and a blacksmith shop built in 2020 from residents’ old barns, some dating to the 1800s. A timber structure earns its place here by fitting that farm-town character and standing up to the bench’s real snow and wind. Structures We Build in Mapleton
Every structure is a Custom-Engineered Kit — purpose-built for your space, architecture, and lot.
Custom Pergolas: Best Fit For Mapleton
On a large Mapleton lot, sun reaches a patio from every side, and July highs in the low 90s make real shade worth having. A pergola has to deliver that shade and read as a permanent part of the property, not a mail-order add-on, whether it sits beside an older home near Maple & Main or on a foothill lot with mountain views. That’s where custom engineering separates from a catalog cover.

Many aluminum and light-frame pergola kits provide significantly less coverage, while our ShadePrint™ approach measures actual coverage and can reach 80–85%, varying by orientation and time of day. Unlike metal, timber has low thermal conductivity, so it doesn’t heat the skin as quickly in the sun and surfaces stay more comfortable to the touch. Engineered for Mapleton’s bench slopes and foothill snow, the Dovetail Difference® interlocks the timbers without metal brackets or exposed fasteners, with no visible hardware to loosen. Add lighting and power through TimberVolt® — engineered in, not bolted on.
The same craftsmanship scales up: Mapleton’s businesses, parks, and event venues use commercial timber pavilions to turn a patio into a year-round, instantly recognizable space.

In person or remote, designed around your lot, home, and views.
Engineering for Mapleton Conditions
Engineered to your lot’s soil, grade, snow load, and wind, based on the specific conditions of your property. We provide engineering documentation to support permitting and stamped drawings prepared by a licensed engineer where the project and jurisdiction require them.
Fabrication & Quality Control
Every timber is cut in-house at our own Payson shop, on CNC machinery we own and run ourselves — not sent out to a third-party fabricator. That means the same team that engineers your Mapleton structure also cuts it, with one line of control and accountability from design to delivery.
Warranty Coverage
Every Western Timber Frame structure carries a limited structural warranty. Length runs from 3 years on Deck Structures to 25 years on the 12K Series, based on the series you purchase.
Delivery & Installation Support
Ships as a Custom-Engineered Kit with complete instructions; DIY-friendly, or we can coordinate installation support.
We build around local permitting, including Mapleton City’s requirements for snow load, wind load, accessory-structure setbacks, and rear-yard coverage.
