Designed and Built in Utah — About 1 Hour and 15 Minutes Away
Our structures are made in Utah — designed, engineered, and CNC-cut at our facility in Payson, about 1 hour and 15 minutes away. Every one of the 7,000+ structures we’ve delivered nationwide since 2008 started as raw timber on that shop floor.
For a Park City buyer, that means an in-person consultation, timber cut in-state, and real joinery you can drive to before you commit.
It’s also why the U.S. Small Business Administration named us the 2026 SBA Utah District Manufacturing Small Business of the Year.
Designing Timber Structures for Park City’s Climate & Lifestyle

Park City sits at about 6,900 feet in the Wasatch Back, mostly in Summit County with some portions in Wasatch County. That elevation brings deep snow that stays on the ground for months. Park City’s 2026 design criteria set ground snow load by the Utah Ground Snow Load Study, which ties the load to each site’s elevation, and list a 40-inch frost line. Those numbers shape the footings, beam sizes, and roof of every structure we design here.
Park City’s Building Department handles plan review and inspections, and the Planning Department reviews exterior work in the Historic District. We work through those requirements with you during design, before a single beam is cut.
Our standard engineering starts at 115 mph. Where the project requires a higher design wind speed, the structure is engineered for that requirement. Park City’s 2026 design criteria list 115 mph for wind. We also engineer to your lot’s real snow load, soil, and exposure.
Neighborhoods we design for:

Park City lots run from steep Old Town hillsides to open meadow ground. The slope changes how a structure is anchored, how its stairs and decks meet the grade, and how much snow drifts onto its roof. Old Town lots are often narrow, with little flat ground to work with. Meadow lots have room to spread out but less shelter from the wind, and resort hillsides add heavy roof snow and long views worth framing. We design each structure around the lot it sits on, so it reads as part of the home rather than something set down beside it.
Old Town and the Historic District
Steep hillside lots above Main Street, where most exterior work starts with a Historic District Design Review.
Park Meadows and Thaynes Canyon
Larger, flatter lots near the golf courses and open meadows, where wind crosses open ground and a structure is seen from every side.
Deer Valley and the resort hillsides
Slope-side homes where grade, heavy roof snow, and mountain views shape the footing and roof design.
Park City began as a silver mining camp in the 1860s, was incorporated in 1884, and was largely rebuilt after the Great Fire of 1898. Today the city counts more than 400 historic sites, and its Main Street Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. A timber structure earns its place here by fitting that mining-town character and standing up to the mountain’s real snow. Structures We Build in Park City
Every structure is a Custom-Engineered Kit — purpose-built for your space, architecture, and lot. In Park City that often means a full roof: a pavilion sheds heavy snow and keeps a hot tub or outdoor kitchen usable through the winter, while a pergola gives open shade during bright summer days at elevation. Each kit is engineered to the snow load at your address before it leaves our shop.

Custom Pergolas: Best Fit For Park City
On a Park City lot, summer sun at nearly 7,000 feet is strong and winter snow is heavy. A pergola has to deliver real shade in July, carry what lands on it in January, and in Old Town, suit the historic streetscape. That’s where custom engineering separates from a catalog cover.

Many aluminum and light-frame pergola kits provide significantly less coverage, while our ShadePrint™ approach measures actual coverage and can reach 80–85%, varying by orientation and time of day. Timber also transfers heat more slowly than aluminum, so it can feel less hot to the touch after direct sun exposure. Built for mountain snow and hillside lots, the Dovetail Difference® interlocks the timbers without metal brackets or exposed fasteners, with no visible hardware to loosen. Add lighting and power through TimberVolt® — engineered in, not bolted on.
The same craftsmanship scales up: Park City’s hotels, restaurants, and event venues use commercial timber pavilions to turn a patio into a year-round, instantly recognizable space. Just outside town, we supplied the exterior heavy timber package for a 180-room hotel in Deer Valley East Village, and in town we built a contemporary black-stained pergola for a Park City property.
Our Timber Frame Design & Build Process in Park City

From a backyard pergola to commercial heavy timber like the hotel entry shown below, every project runs through the same five steps. The same team designs, engineers, cuts, and ships it, so nothing gets lost between a drawing and the timber that arrives at your lot.
Design Consultation
In person or remote, designed around your lot, slope, and views.
Engineering for Park City Conditions
Engineered to your lot’s soil, grade, snow load, and wind, based on the specific conditions of your property. We provide engineering documentation to support permitting and stamped drawings prepared by a licensed engineer where the project and jurisdiction require them.
Fabrication & Quality Control
Every timber is cut in-house at our own Payson shop, on CNC machinery we own and run ourselves — not sent out to a third-party fabricator. That means the same team that engineers your Park City structure also cuts it, with one line of control and accountability from design to delivery.
Warranty Coverage
Every Western Timber Frame structure carries a limited structural warranty. Length runs from 3 years on Deck Structures to 25 years on the 12K Series, based on the series you purchase.
Delivery & Installation Support
Ships as a Custom-Engineered Kit with complete instructions; DIY-friendly, or we can coordinate installation support.

We build around local permitting, including Park City’s building requirements for snow load, wind load, and setbacks, and the city’s Historic District Design Review where it applies.
