Designed and Built in Utah — About an Hour Away
Our structures are made in Utah — designed, engineered, and CNC-cut at our facility in Payson, about an hour away. Every one of the 7,000+ structures we’ve delivered nationwide since 2008 started as raw timber on that shop floor.
For a Heber City buyer, that means an in-person consultation, timber cut in-state, and real joinery you can drive to before you commit. We’ve built here, too, including an apartment community’s clubhouse pavilion and entry gateway with TimberVolt® power, the Cafe Rio patio pergola, and the backyard pergolas with stone column bases pictured on this page.
It’s also why the U.S. Small Business Administration named us the 2026 SBA Utah District Manufacturing Small Business of the Year.
Designing Timber Structures for Heber City’s Climate & Lifestyle
Heber City sits at about 5,600 feet in the Heber Valley, and winters here are serious. Utah’s building code snow table lists Heber City at a 60 psf ground snow load at 5,604 feet, and the city’s design criteria point to the Utah Snow Load Study to confirm the load by address. The same criteria list a 36-inch frost depth and a 105 mph design wind speed. NOAA’s 1991–2020 climate normals for the Heber station show an average July high of about 90°F, January lows near 13°F, and about 75 inches of snow a year, so a structure has to carry real snow and still shade a summer patio.
Heber City’s zoning code keeps accessory buildings out of the front yard, at least 5 feet from side and rear lot lines (10 feet from a street-side line on a corner lot), 12 feet from the house, and within 25% of the rear yard. Accessory buildings over 200 square feet need a building permit and can reach 27 feet, while smaller ones are capped at 12 feet. The city’s residential zones list pergolas and arbors among allowed accessory structures. We work through those requirements with you during design, before a single beam is cut.
Our standard engineering starts at 115 mph. Where the project requires a higher design wind speed, the structure is engineered for that requirement. We also engineer to your lot’s real snow load, soil, and exposure.
Neighborhoods we design for:
Older homes near Main Street
The red sandstone Wasatch Stake Tabernacle, finished in 1889 and now Heber City Hall, anchors the older blocks near Main Street, where a structure has to suit an older home and an established lot.
Valley lots and homes near the airport
Newer lots on the open valley floor, where heavy snow shapes the roof and footing design, and lots near Heber Valley Airport, where the city’s airport overlay limits structure height.
Subdivisions with HOA review
Newer neighborhoods with CC&Rs, where an architectural committee may need to approve a pergola or pavilion design before you apply for a city permit.
The Tabernacle and the 1909 Social Hall are listed together on the National Register of Historic Places, and the Heber Valley Railroad, once nicknamed the “Heber Creeper,” still runs trains from Heber toward Provo Canyon. Jordanelle State Park sits above the valley, and the Wasatch County Fair brings rodeos and livestock shows to Heber City each summer. A timber structure earns its place here by fitting that history and standing up to real snow, wind, and summer sun. Structures We Build in Heber City
Every structure is a Custom-Engineered Kit — purpose-built for your space, architecture, and lot.
Custom Pergolas: Best Fit For Heber City
With July highs near 90°F and bright high-elevation sun, a Heber City patio needs shade that actually works. A pergola has to deliver real shade and read as a permanent part of the home, not a mail-order add-on, whether it sits behind an older home near Main Street or on a valley lot facing Timpanogos. That’s where custom engineering separates from a catalog cover.

Many aluminum and light-frame pergola kits provide significantly less coverage, while our ShadePrint™ approach measures actual coverage and can reach 80–85%, varying by orientation and time of day. Unlike metal, timber has low thermal conductivity, so it doesn’t heat the skin as quickly in the sun and surfaces stay more comfortable to the touch. Engineered for Heber City’s mountain snow and high-elevation sun, the Dovetail Difference® interlocks the timbers without metal brackets or exposed fasteners, with no visible hardware to loosen. Add lighting and power through TimberVolt® — engineered in, not bolted on.
The same craftsmanship scales up: Heber City’s businesses, parks, and event venues use commercial timber pavilions to turn a patio into a year-round, instantly recognizable space.
Our Timber Frame Design & Build Process in Heber City

Design Consultation
In person or remote, designed around your lot, home, and views.
Engineering for Heber City Conditions
Engineered to your lot’s soil, grade, snow load, and wind, based on the specific conditions of your property. We provide engineering documentation to support permitting and stamped drawings prepared by a licensed engineer where the project and jurisdiction require them.
Fabrication & Quality Control
Every timber is cut in-house at our own Payson shop, on CNC machinery we own and run ourselves — not sent out to a third-party fabricator. That means the same team that engineers your Heber City structure also cuts it, with one line of control and accountability from design to delivery.
Warranty Coverage
Every Western Timber Frame structure carries a limited structural warranty. Length runs from 3 years on Deck Structures to 25 years on the 12K Series, based on the series you purchase.
Delivery & Installation Support
Ships as a Custom-Engineered Kit with complete instructions; DIY-friendly, or we can coordinate installation support.
We build around local permitting, including Heber City’s accessory building setbacks, airport overlay limits, and HOA approvals.
