Expanded Deck with Hidden Power: Timber Hipped Pavilion
Some spaces need more than a quick touch-up. They need a thoughtful extension that makes the whole home feel bigger and more inviting. That’s exactly what happened here.
The family’s old back deck felt too small. There wasn’t enough room to gather or relax comfortably. So they asked us to expand it. We added the extra square footage it needed to connect naturally to the house. Then we built a striking hipped roof pavilion right over the new area. This tied everything together into one seamless outdoor living space.

A Statement Piece with Shade and Light
This isn’t just a patio cover — it’s a handcrafted Traditional style pavilion, cut from solid Douglas Fir timbers in our Woodland 6000 Series. The hipped roof design opens up the view and brings a sense of spaciousness overhead. It feels architectural and intentional — like it was always meant to be part of the home.
Underneath, the light-colored tongue & groove ceiling keeps the covered space bright. Natural light bounces off the wood, so even on cloudy days the area feels open and warm, not dark or heavy. The Roosevelt Step beam profile adds just enough detail to make the craftsmanship stand out.
One Smooth Transition
What makes this project really stand out is how naturally it blends old and new. The expanded deck extends the usable space, while the pavilion creates shelter right where it’s needed most — no awkward edges or patchwork feel. Strong pre-poured footings anchor the posts, and knife plates lock the beams in place for dependable strength season after season.
This is more than a backyard add-on — it’s a thoughtful continuation of the home, built to make the outdoors feel as comfortable and finished as the inside.

Hidden Power for Real Life
Good design isn’t just about looks — it’s about how you use the space day to day. That’s why this build includes our signature TimberVolt® power posts. The wiring stays hidden inside the timbers, but outlets are right where they’re needed for string lights, ceiling fans, or a quiet afternoon with a laptop and a cup of coffee. No tangled extension cords. No fuss.
A Hipped Roof That Opens the Space
The hipped roof slopes create a naturally open, airy feel — drawing the eye up and outward instead of closing you in. Combined with the bright ceiling panels and the open deck layout, it turns this backyard into a welcoming retreat that feels bigger than its footprint.
Inside, the light-colored tongue & groove ceiling reflects daylight, so the covered space stays bright and welcoming — never dark or heavy. The Roosevelt Step beam profile adds a handcrafted touch that speaks to the care behind every cut and joint.
Hidden Power, Thoughtfully Placed
To make everyday use even easier, we included our signature TimberVolt® power posts. Wires stay safely tucked inside the timbers, while outlets sit right where they’re needed for string lights, fans, or an outdoor work session. No messy cords. No clutter. Just clean, built-in power ready for any gathering.
Good for Backyards — or the Bigger Picture
Though this project sits in a residential yard, the same handcrafted approach works beautifully for commercial spaces, too. Parks, outdoor dining patios, or wedding venues — anywhere people gather. A custom hipped roof pavilion with hidden power and timeless timber framing makes every space feel well cared for and ready for connection.
