Alpine White is our soft, brightening white — a light finish that lifts timber and gives it a fresh, airy feel. It isn’t a flat coat of solid white paint: it lays down real white color while the rough-sawn texture still shows through, so the timber still looks like real wood, just lightened and brightened. It’s a Sherwin-Williams water-based stain, applied in two shop coats and backrolled so it works into the rough-sawn Douglas Fir instead of sitting on top like paint, and the rough-sawn texture stays part of the look. On a pergola, pavilion, or gazebo, Alpine White reads coastal, farmhouse-fresh, and effortlessly light.

What color is Alpine White?

Alpine White is our soft, brightening white — a light finish that lifts timber and gives it a fresh, airy, coastal-farmhouse feel.

Is Alpine White a solid white, or does the wood texture show?

It lays down real white color — not a flat coat of solid white paint. Because it’s worked into rough-sawn timber, the rough-sawn texture still shows through, so it looks like real, lightened wood rather than a painted-over surface. (Only our Natural finish is fully clear.)

What structures can I get in Alpine White?

Any of our timber structures — pergolas, pavilions, gazebos, cabanas, and more — can be finished in Alpine White.

What stain does Western Timber Frame use for Alpine White?
