Can you put a gazebo over a hot tub?
Yes. A hot tub gazebo stands on its own posts and footings, so nothing rests on the tub or on the pad the tub sits on. Because it is a separate structure, it can be built taller than the tub’s raised cover, and it can be added after the spa is already in place.

The 115 mph figure is the wind speed the engineer designs against. It is a number that goes into the math, not a promise about what any real storm will do to a finished structure.

How is a timber gazebo held together?
With a tapered dovetail joint, cut so the beam seats down into the post. The stamped drawings call for that joint specifically, designed for strength and for the way wood shrinks, checks and twists as it dries.
The drawings also instruct that metal connections are not to be used unless the structural design requires them — and where they are required, they must be concealed or held to an absolute minimum. That is an engineer’s instruction written on a sealed drawing, not a styling preference. Pegs are specified as straight-grained, all-heartwood, knot-free birch or oak, and exposed edges get a half-inch chamfer.
What is a hot tub cabana, and how is it different?
A hot tub gazebo and a hot tub cabana can carry the same roof. The difference is the walls. A cabana closes one, two or three sides, so the spa is screened at eye level while the remaining side stays open to the yard. A gazebo usually stays open on every side.

Does a hot tub gazebo need footings?
Yes. On the stamped set the footings are sized against soil carrying 1,500 psf and must bear on undisturbed soil or on structural fill. Footing concrete is specified at 3,000 psi. Depth is set by your local frost line, which is a local code question rather than something the drawings answer.
How long does a kit take to install?
One owner, Karen Reynolds of Enterprise, Alabama, reported that hers “only took about 3 1/2 hrs.” Her kit size and how many people helped were not recorded, so that is one person’s result and not an installation time for the product.
Hot tub gazebo questions
Can a gazebo go over a hot tub that is already installed? Yes. The structure carries its own load through its own posts and footings, so the tub does not have to move.
How much clearance do I need above the tub? Measure your own spa with the cover raised, and add the lifter’s full travel. The stamped drawings put the roof framing plane at 9 feet 0 inches, but the clearance a particular tub needs is not something the drawings establish.
Will a gazebo keep snow off the spa? A solid roof sheds snow, and the stamped set designs that roof against either 30 or 50 psf of ground snow depending on the site.
