Family Time Outdoors, Leaving a Legacy With a Timber Frame Pavilion

Western Timber Frame is all about family, and this one was a delight to see.
Our passion is building outdoor living structures that naturally draw people together. When a pavilion goes up, something shifts in the backyard. It stops being “outside space” and starts becoming a place where stories get told, laughter shows up more often, and the people you love linger a little longer.
Picture it: a fire pit glowing, a few marshmallows (and maybe a few hot dogs) over the flame, lemonade on the table, and the kind of easy conversation that doesn’t happen when everyone is scattered inside. Share it with friends, let music drift through the evening, and watch the sunset settle in. Home sweet home feels even sweeter.
Thank you to this family for sharing photos of their evenings together under their timber frame pavilion. Below are a few moments from their backyard, along with installation photos and the pavilion specifications.
A Bright, Cheerful Feel Under the Roof
One of the details we love most about this pavilion is the natural stained tongue-and-groove roof. It gives the space a warm, finished look while keeping the ceiling light and welcoming.

When the Yard Is Cozy, Photos Can Be Tricky

Sometimes the space is so intimate that it’s hard to step back far enough to capture the entire pavilion in one shot. That was the case here.
One photo even caught the neighbor’s garden arbor in the background, and it ended up being a great “real-life” size comparison. These structures carry presence. They’re not small accents — they’re outdoor rooms.

Evening Lighting Made Simple

We also received a phone photo taken at night, and it’s one of our favorites. Lighting under a pavilion changes everything — it extends the life of the space well past sunset and makes it feel like a true gathering place.
With integrated power options like Drill For Power and TimberVolt power posts, adding lighting is straightforward and clean.

Before and After: The Backyard Transformation
One of the most satisfying parts of any pavilion install is seeing the “before” space — and then seeing what it becomes. A pavilion doesn’t just add shade. It adds purpose. It gives the yard a destination.

A Backyard That Holds Your Best Moments
In the end, this is what timber framing is for: not just a structure, but a setting for the life you’re building. It is the kind of place where kids remember evenings outside and where stories get passed down year after year. In a quiet way, it becomes part of your family legacy.
