We decided to add planking there to cover that." A sightline issue, fixed in software, weeks before any timbers were cut. Husband prepped the footers one weekend. Three more weekends with — in Melanie's own words — "two strong guys, and an unskilled wimpy helper (me)." Roofing, electrical, ceiling fan, and lighting all went in alongside. What she said about working with the timbers: "The dovetail and tongue and groove cuts on all the pieces made putting them together quick. The instructions for the build were spot on and very easy to read. The lumber was excellent quality.
