TimberVolt® Firefly™ Outdoor Power Post

Simple, Concealed Power

One pre-wired outlet, hidden in the timber — plug in and go.

What Is the TimberVolt® Firefly?

The Firefly™ is the most compact power post in Western Timber Frame’s patented TimberVolt® line — a pre-wired timber post with one concealed, weather-resistant outlet mounted high on the post, so you can plug in string lights, a fan, or a charger with no electrician, no trenching, and no exposed wiring.

Like every TimberVolt® post, the Firefly™ runs its wiring through a 1.25-inch channel bored down the center of a 6×6 or larger timber, to National Electrical Code (NEC) standards. It arrives factory pre-wired and sealed — ready to plug in and use.

Part of the TimberVolt® system, protected under U.S. Patent No. 10,053,861 — “Power Distribution Post for Use in Timber Frame Structures.”

What’s Built Into Every Firefly?

Every Firefly post arrives factory pre-wired and sealed, with a single clean outlet set high on the post — easy to reach for string lights, a fan, or a charger, and protected for every season. Western Timber Frame bores that 1.25-inch channel on a CNC machine before the post is stained and wired.

High-Mounted Outlet

One weather-resistant outlet with a premium sealed cover, set high on the post near the beam.

Sealed Top Cap

Caps the top of the post to keep water and debris out of the internal wire channel.

Compact, Low Profile

A slim silhouette that delivers power without drawing the eye.

Plug-and-Use

Arrives factory pre-wired — no electrician, no on-site wiring, no guesswork.

A Dovetailed Timber Post at Its Core

The Firefly isn’t just wiring — it’s a solid, dovetailed timber post. Like every TimberVolt® post, it’s built on Western Timber Frame’s patented Dovetail Difference®: a trapezoidal joint that interlocks the timbers together without a single metal bracket.

The wedge shape lets the timber flex and settle naturally with the seasons instead of loosening over time, and because no exposed steel holds it together, there’s nothing to rust or corrode. The post that carries your power is made to last for generations. Seasonal movement is one load; wind is another, and Western Timber Frame engineers these frames to a 115 mph standard design wind speed, higher where the site requires it.

Firefly Questions

What is the TimberVolt Firefly?
The Firefly is the most compact model in Western Timber Frame’s patented TimberVolt line — a pre-wired timber power post with one concealed, weather-resistant outlet, ready to plug in with no exposed wiring.
Is the Firefly pre-wired?
Yes. Every Firefly arrives factory pre-wired and sealed, with the wiring run through a 1.25-inch channel bored down the center of the post. There is no on-site wiring to do — you plug in and go.
Does the Firefly have an outlet or a light switch?
The Firefly has one weather-resistant outlet, not a switch. It is the simplest TimberVolt model. If you want a switch or more outlets, the Phoenix™, Dragon™, and Inferno™ step up from there.
Where is the Firefly outlet located?
The outlet is mounted high on the post, near the beam, under a premium sealed cover. That keeps it easy to reach for string lights or a fan and protected from the weather.
What can I plug into a Firefly?
Anything that runs on a standard outlet — string lights, a fan, a phone or device charger, a plug-in water feature, or an audio system. The Firefly is designed for one clean, low-profile power source.
What size post does the Firefly need?
A 6×6 timber or larger. The 1.25-inch wiring channel runs down the center of the post, so a 6×6 is the minimum size that conceals it cleanly.
Is the Firefly wiring up to code?
Yes. TimberVolt posts are built to National Electrical Code (NEC) standards and arrive factory-sealed. The final connection to your power source should be made by a licensed electrician, per local code.
How is the Firefly different from the other TimberVolt models?
The Firefly is the entry point: one outlet, no switch, no USB or TV wiring. The Phoenix adds a switch-and-outlet setup, the Dragon is fully wired with a GFCI outlet and plug-and-play cords, and the Inferno is the high-capacity model with outlets, USB, TV, and fan control.
