Before & After: A Custom Timber Pavilion in Wisconsin
Every project begins with a blank canvas. The before photos of this site in Kaukauna, Wisconsin, show exactly that — an open stretch of ground, waiting for definition. With design, craftsmanship, and mass timber as the medium, the empty became extraordinary.

A Pavilion Worth the Journey
When Kenny Pruno set out to transform his patio, he wanted something that felt custom, lasting, and worth the investment. After searching extensively for options near his home, nothing compared to what he found with Western Timber Frame.
“We purchased a custom pavilion kit which we assembled ourselves and could not be happier with it. Entire experience from start to finish was as good or better than could be expected. We live out of state and despite extensive searching I could not find anything comparable locally. Glad I finally decided to make this purchase. I was a bit nervous at first because it’s a lot of money to spend for something off the internet but the people I worked with on the project were pros and throughout the process I was continually reassured that I had made the right decision. In the end I got exactly what I wanted and it has made a dramatic improvement to our patio space.”
Kenny’s story is one we hear often — homeowners looking for craftsmanship and quality they simply can’t find locally. His pavilion not only elevated his outdoor living area but also reaffirmed that the right investment can completely redefine a space.

Before & After

In the before photos, the space is plain and uncelebrated. In the after, the pavilion transforms it completely: soaring trusses frame the sky, the two-tone stain adds depth, and the posts stand solid as if they’ve always belonged to the Wisconsin soil.
The Dovetail Difference®

At the heart of this pavilion is our signature Dovetail Difference®. Each beam and post interlocks, creating a structure that resists twisting, warping, and separating. This isn’t just engineering — it’s heritage woodworking elevated to a mass timber commercial scale, ensuring strength that lasts for generations.
Power in the Posts: TimberVolt®
A pavilion is more than shade — it’s a gathering place for people, events, and modern life. With TimberVolt® power integration, this pavilion is wired for lighting, sound systems, and device charging, all seamlessly hidden inside the timber posts. The result is clean, functional, and future-ready.
Two-Tone Stain: Bold and Refined
The dual-stain finish brings this structure to life. Black mass timber anchors the pavilion with boldness, while natural accents highlight the beauty of Douglas Fir grain. The contrast gives it a timeless yet modern edge, making it as visually striking as it is functional.
