A Hexagon That Welcomes: Building a Timeless Timber Frame Gazebo
Some spaces just feel like an invitation. This freestanding, six-post hexagon gazebo is one of them—a quiet place to breathe, then a natural hub when people gather. Our team designed it to feel classic on day one and even better with age.
The vision (kept simple and human)
The request was straightforward: create a beautiful, long-lasting outdoor room that looks like it’s always belonged. Think warm wood, strong lines, and a roof that gives shade without stealing the sky. We leaned into a traditional profile with subtle upgrades so it reads “crafted,” not “constructed.”

Project at a glance
Guided by Design Manager Mike Jenson, the frame balances durability with timeless proportion, so it feels both classic and crafted.
- Structure: Timber frame gazebo, hexagonal, freestanding
- Footprint & span: ~18′ hexagon footprint with a ~20′ roof span
- Posts & clearance: 6 posts (approx. 8×8), ~8′ underside beam height for easy walk-through
- Timber & finish: Douglas fir, dual-stain—Rich Cordoba timbers with a Natural T&G ceiling
- Details that matter: Champion beam profile, arched knee braces with a keystone accent, heavy-duty knife plates
- Style: Traditional, photo-worthy by design
- Power-ready: TimberVolt® Phoenix® posts (pre-routed channels for lighting, fans, and accessories—connect with your licensed electrician)
What makes it feel handcrafted
- Joinery you can trust. Precision-cut connections and our signature approach to tight, long-lasting fits give the frame its quiet strength and crisp lines.
- Arched knee braces with keystones. A small architectural move that changes everything—adding strength, rhythm, and that handmade feel people notice.
- Champion beam profile. Subtle shaping on visible members softens the mass of the timber and elevates the look without shouting.

DUAL-STAIN that actually works
Color should support the architecture, not fight it. The warm depth of Rich Cordoba on the frame anchors the structure, while the Natural tongue-and-groove ceiling brightens the interior and reflects light for an airy, open feel.
Built for real life (and real weather)
From fast-moving summer storms to winter snow, the frame and roof system are engineered for the elements. Wide, clear walkways and comfortable head height make it practical for daily use, dinner with friends, or a full family celebration.
Power, clean and simple
With TimberVolt® Phoenix® power posts, wiring runs inside the timber—not across your floor. It’s the easiest way to add lighting, a fan, heaters, audio, or device charging while keeping the space uncluttered and safe.
Why a hexagon?
Hexagons create gentle sightlines and natural conversation pockets. They feel intimate without being small and open without feeling exposed—perfect for a reading chair and a table for six at the same time.
A note for commercial spaces
This exact design language scales beautifully for hospitality patios, community courtyards, campuses, clubhouses, and wellness settings. The hexagonal plan manages foot traffic smoothly, the dual-stain finish presents well in photography, and the hidden-in-timber power keeps operations tidy. Our team can support spec submittals, stamped engineering, coordination with trades, and site-specific adaptations to match your brand standards.
