Stronger Pergola Anchor: NO Soil Removal NO Concrete Dry Time

Foundations & Anchoring

A pergola is only as steady as what holds it down. Every Western Timber Frame® structure is engineered to stand for decades, so we anchor it to match — with our own EarthAnchor™ system on most sites, and deep helical screw piles where the ground asks for more. Neither one leaves you waiting on a slab of wet concrete to cure.

Standard on every kit

EarthAnchor™ — included, engineered, built to last

EarthAnchor™ is our own anchoring hardware, and it comes standard with your kit at no added cost. It’s machined from corrosion-resistant aluminum — so it won’t rust or rot the way steel and buried wood can — and it’s engineered to hold each post solid and level for the life of the structure. For most backyards on stable ground, EarthAnchor is all the anchoring a pergola, pavilion, or gazebo needs.

Because it’s aluminum, it carries the same corrosion resistance everywhere — inland, lakeside, or near the coast — with no special hardware to specify.

For tougher ground

Helical screw piles, when the soil asks for more

Some sites need to go deeper: hard freezes, soft or shifting soil, a high water table, or an especially large, heavy structure. For those, we anchor with helical screw piles — think of them as giant earth screws driven well below the frost line into stable soil.

They solve the same problems poured concrete does, without the mess or the wait: no forms, no dry time, and construction can begin the same day. They go in with small equipment that leaves the yard intact — a real advantage in tight backyards — and because they thread into the ground, they can even be removed and reused later.

Why it holds

Solid, level, and built for any season

No concrete dry time

No forms and no waiting on a slab to cure — the build starts right away.

Installs in hours

Small equipment sets the anchors fast, in tight spaces, with no soil hauled off.

No landscape damage

Lawns, patios, and planting beds stay intact — no excavation scars.

Any season

Installation isn’t held up by weather the way a concrete pour is.

Level and staying level

Posts are set true and stay put — no frost heave, no drifting over time.

Fully engineered

Every anchor is matched to your structure and your site’s soil and loads.
