This unpretentious tributary called the Sevier River has much history behind its 383 mile long winding belt. In 1776, the same year America’s Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence officially declaring themselves as independent sovereign states, the Dominguez-Velez expedition (later called the Dominguez-Escalante Expedition) set out a few days later to find a passage for travel from New Mexico to California.
