This unpretentious tributary called the Sevier River has much history behind its 383 mile long winding belt. In 1776, the same year America’s Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence officially declaring themselves as independent sovereign states, the Dominguez-Velez expedition (later called the Dominguez-Escalante Expedition) set out a few days later to find a passage for travel from New Mexico to California. Much of their travel was what became known as the Old Spanish Trail route that followed the winding Sevier River. They documented their travel routes recording fascinating details of the mountainous lush lands that were replete with timber, game and strangely peculiar ruins of ancient stone cities and villages with rivers presenting signs of precious metals.

As precious as any metals, the water this river provides for irrigational purposes literally brings life to this arid land; consequently leaving Sevier Lake essentially dry. The water is low at present but the family can enjoy much time together here near the pleasing water beneath their new timber frame pergola kit installed for shade from the hot desert summer sun.

It also reduces the cost of, or even eliminates the need to hire an electrician and eliminates the chance of damaging a post trying to add electrical wiring to a post after it’s installed. The structure is ready to use the moment it installed no need to wait for someone to wire it up. This would be a great place to sit outside to work on your computer and enjoy the splash of evening desert colors at sunset.

The Canyon Grey stain was a good choice in this natural setting to cool off in the shade against the hot summer sun.

The telephone post reminds me of being a kid. This was a view much like from my own childhood. I would have loved the pergola to play under where we didn't have trees, just sage brush and tumble weeds. A pergola provides shade so easily in places where a tree would be prohibited or not practical. It also saves on water.
