🛠 How TimberVolt® Posts Are Made
1. Cutting the Post
Timber is cut and dovetailed by expert timber wrights using large saws.
2. Carving the Electrical Boxes
Each box cavity is hand-cut with a chain mortiser—30 minutes per box on average.
3. Drilling the Power Core
A custom air-fed bore drill creates a hole through the center. It may take 90+ minutes and up to 100 drill passes, especially through knots.
4. Wiring & Box Installation
- Fire-rated, thermoplastic boxes (UL & NEMA compliant) are installed.
- A steel protection sleeve prevents screw damage.
- Proprietary outdoor-rated wiring is drawn through using fish tape.
- Switches and outlets are finished with gasket-sealed Hubbell ML450Z covers.
5. Testing
Each post is rigorously tested to ensure switch, outlet, and wiring integrity before shipping.
