Extends Shade Beyond the Backyard Deck

Artistically, the cantilever roof draws attention beyond the ordinary but a cantilever roof isn’t just about the aesthetics, it is also extremely practical. The cantilever roof adds so much more shade than other pergola roofs and timber keeps the most naturally human-friendly cooling shade of any conventional building material. The shade is wonderful beneath the deck and beyond!

A timber frame cantilever roof featured on a timber frame DIY pergola kit is stronger than conventional timber frame dovetail connections because of Western Timber Frame™ unique The Dovetail Difference™ patent pending design connection system. The Western Timber Frame™ The Dovetail Difference™ is an engineering masterpiece that combines characteristics of the time-proven old world-craftsmanship with the perfection of modern technology to create architectural heirlooms.

A cantilever is very often used as in the process of construction but on a finished architectural structure it does not act, of course, as a cantilever, and in some regions it is referred to as a jetty or forebay. The cantilever design has been around for centuries. During the 19th century in the Appalachian region of the Southern United States, Cantilever barns were a popular architectural style with the top level of the bar extended beyond its foundation in some formation or another. Other items such as a cantilever chair or bicycle frame use the cantilever concept to create a somewhat weightless look, as though it were almost floating.

Standing under these massive timbers is an awesome feeling, both grand and cozy at the same time.
