What Can I Do With My Structure in the Winter?

By |2017-05-19T11:27:11-06:00December 6th, 2012|Newsletter|

With the colder winter months upon us, more and more people are staying indoors and keeping warm as much as possible. After all, who likes to be out in the cold weather? Well, that doesn't mean that your pergola, pavilion, gazebo, etc should be left alone all winter long! What's that, you say? Yes! There are ways to expand the uses of your structure into the winter months. Here are just a few ideas of what you can do. Many people like to have a fire pit along with their structure. Others have heat lamps installed. One of the best things of all is to bundle up and enjoy your hot chocolate together under the Christmas lights. ~ If you don't have a timber structure, you may want to consider including the upgraded drilling for power. Just think, with the upgrade, you can have electricity to use for heat, lights, [...]

Davis “Pavil-gola”

By |2017-05-19T11:26:57-06:00October 18th, 2012|Newsletter|

So what exactly is a "pavil-gola"? Well, it's a cross between a pavilion and a pergola. This is the very first of its kind. As if each Western Timber Frame project isn't unique enough, this one takes it a step further! First we'll show you what the site looks like before this project was installed. This is what it looks like after the project is installed! Here is the Davis "pavil-gola". The pergola section is 10' x 20' and the pavilion section is 20' x 22', which makes it a total area of 20' x 32' altogether. These two structures are joined together at the center posts, forming it into one complete structure. This pavil-gola is finished in Rich Cordoba stain and features the Champion profile. Here you can see the upgraded arched knee braces and the keystones up close. Some have asked, what is the difference between a pavilion [...]

Good day, everyone! Today we have some before and after shots of another project we recently completed. These pictures are taken from all four corner angles so you can see the whole patio area and what a difference the final product makes. Take a look: Before After This is the Copier pergola, a beautiful 20 x 20 pergola finished in Early American stain and featuring the Roosevelt profile. This pergola has extended rafters along one side to provide additional shade for the patio. Not only is this a great asset for the summertime when your patio needs some shade, but it also provides a great place to gather in the evenings, especially during the fall season! Imagine having your friends over to roast some yummy goodies over the firepit or your family close by enjoying some delicious apple cider. These pergolas are beautiful all year long and can be used [...]

Bakker Pergola–Extended Rafters

By |2017-05-19T11:26:43-06:00October 4th, 2012|Newsletter|

Here is the Bakker pergola, one we completed approximately 18 months ago. This attached pergola was originally 14' x 20', with the rafter overhang extending about 1-2 feet beyond the beams (as pictured below). As you can see by the angle of the sun, the shade doesn't quite cover the whole patio. The owners realized that they should have had the rafters extend an additional 2-3 feet beyond the beams in order to maximize their shade. Therefore, the old rafters were taken off and replaced, extending the roof so it is now 17' x 20'. In the next two pictures, you can see the difference in the amount of shade on the patio compared to before. Now they are able to expand their patio area and enjoy more shade throughout the day! With the Early American stain and the Champion beam end profile, it looks absolutely beautiful with their back [...]

Atkinson Pergola

By |2017-05-19T11:16:40-06:00September 20th, 2012|Newsletter|

One of the things we love so much here at Western Timber Frame is the variety of projects that we've completed and the uniqueness of each particular project. No two pergolas are exactly alike. Every single one of the jobs that we have completed are customized to fit each of our customers' individual needs. This pergola is made to fit over the patio and along the house in order to maximize the amount of shade possible. As you can see in the first photo, the back posts are closer together than the front posts. We built this pergola to be 12 feet wide in the back so the pergola will fit nicely right up to the steps and by the home. Then the pergola expands out to 15 feet in the front to open up the space around the fire pit and also to extend the shade right up to [...]
