Heavenly Haven: DIY Hot Tub Pergola, Hammock Trellis
When I picture heaven, I see a safe place, free from stress or worry. This five-star backyard retreat is a haven that is architecturally stress-free. Every Western Timber Frame™ arbor, pavilion, gazebo, pergola and trellis is engineered with a revolutionary mortised and tenon dovetail system we call The Dovetail Difference™. The Dovetail Difference™ gives these shade structures a remarkable 160+ mph wind rating; these structures are architecturally more responsible, integral, with increased resilience to seismic shifting, powerful coastal storms, high winds, and heavy snows of high mountainous regions. As a side benefit The Dovetail Difference™ is more aesthetically pleasing, virtually eliminating unsightly hardware.
The homeowners ordered a Fullsize, freestanding DIY pergola kit for protection and lights over their backyard hot tub and a DIY trellis kit to hang a hammock from. It was so quick and easy to install and it never ceases to amaze me that something built on old world craftsmanship architectural principles that will last for centuries can go up in just a few hours! Historically people many times would move and take their timber frame home with them, piece by piece and reassemble it elsewhere. These are structures I’d want to take with me.
The DIY timber frame pergola kit is Douglas-fir and has a 12′ x 14′ roof with a footprint (post-to-post) of 10′ x 12′. It features Roosevelt Step beam/rafter end profiles, 2×8 Classic style knee braces, 2×8 rafters, 3×10 beams, 2×4 shade planks, finished in a premium high-grade UV protective Rich Cordoba exterior timber stain.
The hammock DIY timber frame trellis kit has a 20’ roof with two posts and features Roosevelt Step beam end profiles, 2×8 Classic style knee braces, D-rings and finished in a premium high-grade UV protective Rich Cordoba exterior timber stain.
This is a heavenly haven, the family can enjoy for many years to come. It turned out just gorgeous, we just couldn’t stop taking pictures. . .
