Pictures of a newly installed DIY shade structure sent back to us is so rewarding to see the final completion from a schematic to the reality. The addition to the home has creating so much more living space for the family and the backyard will now be the central place to gather with friends and neighbors, too. The architectural shingles that will be installed later will match the existing shingles of the home. Here is a look at some of the schematic specs and features chosen by the homeowners for their own personalized backyard retreat with a timber frame ShadeScape™.

Timber Frame Pergola & Pavilion Roof Size & Footprint

The roof size of the ShadeScape™ DIY pergola kit is 24′ x 26′ with the footprint size, post-to-post of 18′ x 25′ measuring from the outside edge of each post. The ShadeScape™ DIY pavilion kit with a roof size of 20′ x 22′ has a footprint of 18′ x 18′.

Western Timber Frame™ pays attention to the smallest of details. The top “shade planks” are spaced closer together as compared to other pergolas giving not only a unique look but offering additional shade as well.

All the timbers are true to size rough-sawn timber for all components rather than standard smaller ‘dimensional’ lumber.
